Kenteva: Our Story

Kenteva: Tradition, reimagined. For the queens who love culture and look good wearing it too. A Limited Edition British Ghanaian Womenswear Label founded by a woman who is deeply influenced by her Ghanaian heritage and her long lost love for fashion and textiles.

The name, "Kenteva," embodies the art of creating our very own unique prints that are inspired by the enchanting beauty of Ghana’s culture and textiles. We have taken the word "Kente" and added the Finnish suffix "va" which means "ing". Thus Kente-ing = Kenteva. The history behind Kente was about story telling and that is what Kenteva is about telling the stories of bold and confident women who love vibrancy and culture. Not only this but every garment created by Kenteva is designed and made with the same love and attention given to traditionally woven kente. 

Our first collection will intentionally begin with the use of powerful Adinkra symbols that have a deep meaning to the brand owner and the brand’s values.
